Accurate stone fabrication requires a template developed from highly accurate measurements.  The smallest error can ruin a fine granite slab.  At Preston Woodworking, we utilize the Proliner 3D measuring instrument.  It eliminates the need for hand drawings and sketches and is completely campatible with our CAD equipment.  When you purchase a stone countertop from Preston Woodworking, you can be assured that it will be cut to the most exacting standards possible.

We cut our stone countertops from slabs lying in a fixed submerged tank with MasterCut 2400 CNC bridge saw.  The parts are put in place and removed via air vacuum lifters attached to rotating cranes.  With its rotary cutting head and variabloe speed blade, we are able to precisedly cut stone up to 4" thick.  The Mastercut 2400 is designed for full-time production and is in operation up to 24 hours per day.

Our backsplash materials are placed in the "Penta" machine which applies polishing to the exposed edges of the stone.  The Penta is able to perform all the finishing operations on marble and granite slabs including gauging, straight edge, bevels and lower and upper grooves.  The procedures are fast and simple.

Some of our kitchen tops are processed in our "Omega 100" which applies edge profiles and polishing to the stone.  This automatic multispindle belt polishing machine is remarkable for its performance and production on every kind of marble and granite.  Its complete equipment allows it to perform all the finishing operations on materials from 20mm to 100mm including calibration/gauging, straight edge, bevels, upper and lower groove, sloping cuts and their polishing, quirk miters (QM), slot cuts in generall, bullnose and other edges with regular round shapes.

Any custom shape tops that may have round or angled sections or sink holes are precision cut on the "Master 43" CNC router which uses diamond coated tooling to cut and profile the shape and edge details.  All these shapes and holes are designed and produced using Computer Aided Design "CAD" which creates numerical control programs for the machine.

auto-groover.jpg The Automatic V Grooving Machine

The "Auto V" Grooving Machine is used to produce corner angles up to 90 degrees.  It saves time and costs versus conventional methods such as dowels or butt joint construction.  Additionally, it totally eliminates any oozing of seam compound onto finished surfaces and automatically produces a perfectly straight edge.

All stone tops are closely inspected and fine-tuned by our stone technicians before they are loaded and installed.
